4 Common Essential Oil Mistakes That Need To Be Avoided

Essential oils are found in every part of the world today. They are used at home to make simple remedies, at salons in wellness treatments, at counselling sessions to bring about mental peace, at aromatherapy centres to create natural perfumes and many more. In a bid to jump into this race of using essential oils, we all tend to make a few mistakes in the beginning, which can lead to serious complications later on. Listed below are some of the common mistakes that we commit when we start using these oils and ways to correct them.

  1. Trying many oils at once

When we go shopping for essential oils, we are carried away by the exotic aromas of these oils and their goodness. We want to proudly exhibit our priced possessions to our friends and we are eager to flaunt to the world about the huge investment that we have made in these oils. While it may all nice and rosy in the beginning with you sinking in the aromas every day, it will not yield any benefits in the long run. If you are starting to use essential oils, start off with just about three common oils and see how your body and mind is reacting towards it. When you introduce yourself to a small number of oils, you can easily understand if your body is allergic to or compatible with any particular oil.

  1. Impulse-shopping of oils

When you go to a shopping mall, you usually end up buying more things than you needed or more than what you planned for initially. You should never this habit repeat when you go out for shopping essential oils. These oils come with a huge price. Therefore, you need to invest in them only after careful research, analysis and price comparison. Never buy any oil because you like the packaging or because your friend recommended you the same. Know what you need exactly, read through the packaging to understand the authenticity and then make the right purchasing decision.

  1. Use of these oils on sensitive body parts

When an essential oil is used for making a face wash, we usually dilute the oil with other carrier oils and then apply on our face. However, most of the times, we accidently rub a little of this oil into our eyes, causing severe irritation and redness. You must always remember that these essential oils are pure plant extracts and should therefore be used carefully on sensitive body parts.  Our first reaction in this case would be to clean our face with ice-cold water, but that will never work. When any of the essential oils go into your eyes, immediately apply a few drops of coconut oil, milk or cream to your eyes for instant relief.

  1. Not testing the oils

You have to undertake some tests when you buy essential oils, so that you know that you are putting your money in the right product. Most of the oils have a thin consistency; so, when you apply a drop of these oils on white paper, it shouldn’t leave behind any traces of oily patches or rings.

Alcohol Addiction – Can Essential Oils Help?

Excessive drinking has negative impacts in all sectors of life among them your health. The alcohol interferes with so many things from the way your organs functions to the way you make decisions. Generally alcoholics are not in the best of health and the more they plunge into the addiction the worse the situation gets. It might be hard to get over the addiction, but it is possible to give up alcohol, regardless of how many years you have abused it. It is never too late to turn things around and with the right tools you can get your health and life back into shape.

Aromatherapy has shown hope in helping addicts quit alcohol. The essential oils have properties that touch on different areas and they eventually help the alcoholics take more control and deal with cravings. The essential oils can be used in baths and for massages or even inhaled to offer relief to the individuals trying to give up the excessive drinking. Considering that there are often emotional issues surrounding the alcohol abuse, the ability of essential oils to move emotions makes them even better remedies to help give up alcohol. So what are the best essential oils that can help cut the bondage that is alcohol addiction?

Peppermint and yarrow – They come in this list because they have the ability to stop emotional suffering and pain that could lead to alcohol abuse. They can be inhaled or used in baths to keep emotions in balance and to help individuals face situations in their lives more soberly and positively for that matter.

Cinnamon – This essential oil is great in eliminating rage and anger that most alcoholics have. People who are hooked to alcohol are usually depressed and they seem to always be angry and raged. The use of cinnamon and ajowan can help calm their nerves so they are able to make decisions more rationally without turning to alcohol.

Cedarwood and eucalyptus – The essential oils are great at soothing alcohol damages. They help in relaxing and also promote better sleep, making it easier for the addicts to recover. The oils can be used in massage and baths together with chamomile, lavender, apple cider vinegar and lemon. They have also proved to be helpful to children born to parents who are alcoholics because they help in relieving distress so they can relax and sleep better.

Lemon oil – It is among the most popular essential oils when it comes to giving up alcohol. The essential oil of lemon has profound effects on individuals suffering under alcoholic abuse. The lemon stabilizes energy patterns within the nervous system and it also makes a very good oil in dissolving resentment and worry that lead to alcohol abuse.

Lemon petitgrain is also very beneficial when used in massage and bath because it help in breaking habitual and addictive patterning. This is oil that is got from leaves and twigs of the lemon plant and has shown hope in breaking rigid alcoholic addiction patterns.

Essential oils alone might not achieve the desired results when trying to give up alcohol, but they indeed do make good additional tools in an alcohol quit program and should be considered.
